Michael A. Flory
Michael A. Flory, 32, an attorney from Okemos, Michigan has pleaded guilty in Cleveland, Ohio to sexual battery for forcing sex acts on a woman while both were at a convention in Cleveland, Ohio last July.
At the time of the convention Flory was Chairman of the Michigan Federation of Young Republicans, a political group for 18 to 40-year-old participants.
Flory originally faced 11 charges, including eight counts of rape, kidnapping, aggravated burglary and gross sexual imposition for his alleged crimes against a then 21 year old Michigan woman also attending the convention. It was alleged that the woman was intoxicated and became ill and that Flory took her back to her hotel. It is also alleged that when she told him “Good night”, he forced his way into her hotel room and forced several sex acts on her.
According to Assistant Cuyahoga County, Ohio prosecutor Carol Skutnik, “afterward he was bragging about it”.
Flory is set for sentencing on September 13th and faces a sentencing range of one to five years in prison or probation and the possibility of being required to register as a sex offender.
