Call Him Deputy Whoopsy

Michael Wade Kent, 51, of Ponca City, Oklahoma a former Kay County, Oklahoma Deputy Sheriff has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Oklahoma City on a six-count indictment charging him with using the Internet to arrange a sexual encounter with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The indictment indicates that from December through March, Kent communicated via the Internet with an undercover person who Kent believed to be a 14-year-old girl, discussed his desire to have sex with the “girl,” sent images of adult and child pornography to her, and discussed plans to travel from Ponca City to Pittsburgh.

The 14-year-old “girl” was in reality an undercover agent, part of a federal program designed to protect children online.

If convicted of the charges Kent faces 10-years to life in prison and fines up to $250,000.
