Rio Rancho Ride Alongs
The Rio Rancho, New Mexico Department of Fire & Rescue is no longer allowing high school students to ride along with ambulance crews unless they are at least 18-years-old.
A for good idea in light of former firefighter Eliot Salgado who was indicted by a Sandoval County Grand Jury recently on four counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and one count each of attempted criminal sexual penetration of a minor and enticement of a child.
Reportedly Salgado and the then 15-year-old girl met on such a ride along which was a school requirement for the girl. Weeks later she allegedly obtained Salgado’s phone number and pursued him, telling him that she was 17-years-old and a sexual relationship allegedly developed between the two. It is alleged that Salgado had vaginal, oral and anal intercourse with the 15-year-old and that they had several sexual encounters at fire stations where he was working, as well as at his home when his wife was away.
According to the Rio Rancho Observer:
Police obtained naked photographs of the girl that she had sent him. She also told officers that Salgado sent her naked photographs of his wife.
According to FireFightingnews.com:
Rio Rancho police launched an investigation in January after the parents of the then 16-year-old girl found sexually explicit e- mails and conversations on the girl’s computer, according to a Rio Rancho police investigation report.
Salgado resigned shortly after the investigation began last January.
