Senator Larry Craig
It was bad enough when U.S. Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was busted in a john at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport June 11th on allegations that he solicited sex from a male undercover police officer.
It was worse when Senator Craig pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge in the Hennepin County District Court on August 8th and was sentenced a 10-day jail term, which was stayed, one year of probation and was ordered to pay $500 in fines and fees.
It got plain damned weird when once the scandal broke wide open Senator Craig claimed that it was simply a matter of police “misconstruing my actions” owing to the fact that he has a “wide stance” when sitting on the crapper and that he likes to pick up allegedly non-existent pieces of paper from restroom floors.
After Craig was busted, his ego took another beating when Craig handed the plainclothes sergeant who arrested him a business card that identified him as a U.S. Senator and said, “What do you think about that?”.
It’s fairly obvious what the cop thought of that.
That he had a perv on his hands.
One looking for anonymous homo-sex in a public restroom.
And the officer just might be right, as it was just last year that the conservative Senator’s staff was running in circles denying allegations that he was a closeted homosexual.
Which might explain Craig’s alleged “wide stance”…
